Bilinguals report codeswitching for many reasons. Demographic, codeswitching, and acculturation surveys and a proficiency test were administered to 37 RGV residents. Results show over 50% of bilinguals report codeswitching, 33% reported they were aware of switches, and 9.5% were unaware, and a positive covariation between degree of bilingualism and codeswitching.
