Escherichia coli (E. coli) on nutrient rich agar plates were exposed to dextran coated silver oxide (Ag2O) nanoparticles suspended in an aqueous solution that used the biocidal properties of the Ag2O, which resulted in a 100% kill efficiency on all concentrations of nanoparticles (0.1 mg/ml to 5.0 mg/ml).
